BLOG FROM 16CCEM YOUTH FORUM
I’m over here in South Africa at the 16CCEM Youth Forum.
Quick bullet points re the conference so far:
- Low Pacific Representation - only NZ so far, but I think we might be it!
- Normal start of conference confusion
- We got given bright orange conference bags and a ‘Nelson Mandela’ flowing african robe to wear
- Good presentations so far re Education that accepts, encourages and caters to diversity
- Jenn, the other NZ rep is on the five person communique drafting committee! Good times.
- Question times so far have been dominated by South African Delegates, I have met with the organisers and asked them to encourage delegates to respect that there are other nations present, and question time should reflect this. They’re going to talk about it after lunch.
Check out the website for the 16CCEM to find out about the conference.

The Forum will meet from Saturday 9th December 2006 to Thursday 14th December 2006 in the same venue as the Ministers’ Conference and will include a full day’s program on Robben Island. The final statement of the Youth Forum to the Education Ministers will be made on Wednesday 13th December 2006.
