THE FOURTH WORLD WAR REVIEW
The Fourth World War (2003) Directed by Rick Rowley
By Lena Stahlschmidt
The Fourth World War is an amazing documentary. It captures people’s movements around the world that resisted the devastation caused by globalisation. It is not extremely educational on what globalisation is in an academic sense, rather it gives specific examples of its impacts. The movie covered issues in Argentina, Mexico, Korea, South Africa, Palestine, and the “War on Terror.” It makes for a powerful and empowering movie through the momentum and dedication of people all over the world. However, at the same time it is a saddening and discouraging movie through its portrayal of the powers of corporations, politics, and greed and the lack of power that people can have over changing the system. The combination of the commentary, music, topics, variety of examples and amazing footage makes for an entertaining, powerful, and important documentary. Watch this movie!
