Focus on the Future
Just Focus is a youth-focused and youth-led group – this means YOU get to decide how it runs, how it makes decisions and how it relates to other groups.
In the future, Just Focus will involve more and more participation from members like you.
That’s why YOU should get involved now!
We need to decide how Just Focus is gonna govern itself, how we make decisions around the country and how we relate to adult-led organisations that support us. In order to do this we are going to do some research and come up with a report.
The Wellington Just Focus group had a meeting and talked about:
- Just Focus in on years time (in regards to governance, decision making and participation)
- The Process – How is Just Focus going to get there?
- Any setbacks or problems that Just Focus may encounter along the way.
You can check out the Stepping Stone exercise we made to see the ideas that the Wellington crew came up with.
This is how the Wellington crew saw Just Focus operating in a years time:
- A ‘Pan-Pacific community that spans New Zealand and the Pacific
- Inclusive and accessible to all youth, with strong links of communication between all groups
- Led by a core structure of young people with more independence from the Global Education Centre and its guidelines
- Partnerships with other youth-led organisations
- The Global Education Centre serves as a supportive ‘backbone’ to Just Focus
- Other adults organisations give support and funding, but do not lead the decision making process
However this is only the Wellington crews’ response. Now we are interested in what YOU have to say!!
So here is our question to you …
Is this how YOU see Just Focus working in one years time?

Who are we and what are we doing?
We are a team of students from Victoria University studying participatory development. We are researching ways that Just Focus may be coordinated, learning and writing a report on participation.
