The theme of this year’s International Youth Day is SUSTAINABILITY: Our Challenge. Our Future.
We are beginning to realise that sustainable development is not just a case of looking after the environment, we also need to think about society, culture and the economy - we need to look after people too!
The UN as been proven by the global crises in food, the economy and the environment, the concept of the global village has gone beyond being a useful analogy to being a hard reality, making clear the need to adopt a global sense of social responsibility.”
The UN believe that young people are the energizers of today and the holders of tomorrow. And that only with youth action, inclusion, and full participation can can we develop today’s world for the generations of today and tomorrow.
