Syriana is a movie which brings to light the economics, politics and corruption
behind the oil industry. It connects oil company CEO’s, the CIA, the Department of Justice, an Arab Emir and his sons, a law firm and an accountant in a true, depressing look into the conspiracy behind big business and politics.
It was depressing as it brought to light our world’s complete dependence on oil, the corruption it causes and the lives that are destroyed in the process, yet offers no solution.’ It was pretty difficult for me to follow, especially the first half with multiple plotlines and characters being introduced.
It is definitely not a movie to watch if you just want to relax and tune out. However, it is an important film as it brings to light an issue that is ever increasingly going to affect all of our lives…the demand for oil.
